A trip home

Today I catch a flight back to Tulsa and will see my family for a day. The purpose of the trip is to help my sister Lee Ann and her entire district of teachers with some team building. We have been talking about doing something for a long time and now it will happen. I am thrilled and happy for her here!

In addition, I get to see my dad who fell and broke his leg about two weeks ago. He is doing great, but I am glad to get to see him soon.

Two rides in one day

Just a quick excerpt from our annual trip to Utah for mountain biking.

We arrived at the camp ground at 2am. The next day we were slow getting started (1pm). We rode with 7 people up to 10,000 feet and back to camp. It was about 14 miles. We went back to camp and met up with the rest of our group and rode an additional 9 miles at dusk. Great day riding.

That night we cooked our steak and ate at 11PM. Red meat and red wine in my exhausted body...what a great trip!

My kids

While this picture just has Jordan, it represents more than just him. As a dad I have the honor of living and loving three kids. They are some of the very best parts of my life.

Maddie- She is friendly and considerate of others, learning to really talk n listen. She is the carbon-copy of her mother. She is tall and strong, made for running.

Austin- creative and funny, quiet around new people, but he is not quiet with us! He is tall and slender, loves baseball.

Jordan- Loud and funny, lots of energy and lots of words. His laugh is one of the best sounds you will ever here.

At times kids are not easy, but I love being a "teacher" and helping them grow to become amazing people who will care for others, try to follow Jesus everyday and contribute to this world. I love you kids! Thanks for letting me be "your dad".

80's workout

In the 4th of July parade this summer, both Maddie and Austin appeared helping the summer staff from camp "scoop poop". Basically, we are paid to follow the horse entries through the parade and pick up crap!!!

In this picture, Dave McMurray and Austin are preparing for poop scooping 80's workout style. Their group was complete with neon bright clothing and "Let's Get Physical" playing in the background as they worked their way through the parade.

Gotta say that Dave McMurray was one of the best I have ever seen. Way to go UCYC summer staff!!!!
