I was reading a biography about a Christian singer/songwriter (Rich Mullins). He stated something that I read early today and it really helped me. Sometimes when I read the Bible (okay, most of the time), I read it to learn ABOUT God. For Rich Mullins, he reads to have an ENCOUNTER with God. That's what I want to do! I want to know God, not just the facts about Him!

No kidding...It reminds me of the song by Ty Herndon, "What Mattered Most"
This comes from the chorus:
"I memorized her every move
I knew her books, her car, her clothes
But I paid no attention to what mattered most"
We can know so much about God but totally miss what matters most. I think that is why I am seeking that "abide in my and I in you" relationship that Jesus talks about.
I once went on a summer mission trip with Rich through CIY. He was an amazing man with an incredible connection to God. He was very inspiring to us on the trip.
